Innocence is being pure and not tainted by evil.
You can lose something that is not tangible by losing your view on life, mentality, or a character trait you have. Once you lose it, you can never get it back. I connected this to the quote "Man's mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions." This connects this idea because the dimensions of your brain are intangible but yet they can change.
The woman to the right is trying to cover the naked woman who is losing her innocence.
The woman in the middle is walking away from a sea shell that represents innocence.
The central figure is surrounded by darkness and the darkness represents things that make her lose her innocence.     

The mans version of the story is that this woman would have never succeeded without without him and that the woman still wants him.
The woman's thinks that she could have done all of that without the man and wants to move on.
Two people can have different takes on a situation because they each have their own influences that they bring into the situation.
An example of this from my life is when my brother and I got in a fight and when we went to tell our parents, we told different stories.

1. Young life is not always great
-no one is smiling
2. Life has many troubles
-deer is dead, tree is cut down, boy has a stick
3. The man likes to hunt
-the man has a gun and a dead deer

It is time for the reader to overcome his/her challenges and move on.

Learning to fly is symbolic for moving on because when you learn to fly you now have the the ability to move around more like you can do after you move on.

Singing in the dead of night represents how you want to move forward but you cant so you are hiding a want from society, like a bird is hiding by not singing during the day.

Into the light of the dark black night represents taking on you challenges. The dark represents you challenges and the light represents you trying to overcome your challenges and bring goodness(light) into a situation.
